We had a casual breakfast as we had plenty of time to get to Kiama as it was only 120km or so. The day was overcast but the rain was mostly holding off. The traffic was a bit heavier by now and really started to build up once we passed the turn off to Jervis Bay.

The only stop on the drive up to Nowra (Greg was actually born in Nowra on the same day as his cousin Rob) was to buy some fruit from a guy on the side of the road. We arrived at Nowra mid morning and pulled up in the main shopping area and had a coffee. The ladies had a brief shopping expedition (about 20 minutes) and we headed on to Kiama via Berry. The country was incredibly lush and green all the way up to Kiama.

We called in to see Greg's brother Steve at his office (he is a sign writer) and headed down to the harbour where we had a sandwich for lunch while we looked out over the ocean. Then it was on to Steve’s place which sits two doors from Kendall’s Beach.

After setting up our gear we went for a walk down around Surf Beach, up to the Blow Hole (which didn’t appear to be blowing), down around the old Olympic baths and back up the main street. When Greg was a little tucker in Kiama this would have been a monumental effort – funny how one’s concept of distance changes as we get older!

In the evening we headed down to the Bowling Club for a couple of beers before dinner then came back to Steve’s place for a feed. All in all it was quite an enjoyable day.
