We had quite a big drive today (for us anyway). Set off from Phillip Island after a very tasty breakfast. We thanked Tom and Chris for their hospitality which was exceptional. We initially thought about setting out for Lake Entrance but ended up at a place on the coast just out from Orbost.

Along the way we stopped at Mirboo North (near where Jan's Uncle Peter once had a farm). It looked like a very tidy little place.

For lunch we pulled over at Bairnsdale which was a bigger town. We needed to get a few things from the supermarket. We had lunch at Subway. While we were sitting there an old guy missed the step up and went face first down on the deck. Greg helped him up.

The country along the road was really green. It was also quite hilly and there was heaps of beautiful forest. We were just sorry that we didn’t have more time to explore the area, particularly along the coast. At any rate the weather wasn’t really conducive to exploration as it was raining for most of the trip.

Jan found a place called Marlo on the map to stay the night, which meant a short diversion off the highway back on to the coast. We wound our way along the Snowy River and arrived at Marlo around 3pm. After setting up we went for a walk. It started raining but it was only light. The weather cleared a bit after tea and we drove down to the jetty on the river to watch the sunset and take a few photos. It looked like a lovely town and a great place to throw in a line.
