Hey guys, well i managed to escape most of the rain by moving very quickly from Guatemala through El Salvador & a little part of hondouras to Nicaragua where i have only seen 2 small showers & lots of beautiful sunshine, so i am very happy.
First stop was just overnight in the capital managua & then took a express mini van to Leon which is a small town with lots & lots of churches & street markets, stayed in a really cool hostel with a swimming pool called Lazybones!
I then took another express bus to Masaya for 1 night because in the footprint they tell you that every thursday you can get free food, drinks & local folk show with music & costumes...Well there was no free food or drink & it was a small fee of $1.50 to get in to see the show but still very good with fantastic costuems & 8 different groups from around Nicaragua performing & also some local bands playing
I then took a chicken bus(the cheapest form of transport in C.America)to Granada which is a very popular place for tourists & ex pats to buy property here & find a native woman.
Took a walk around the city & the lakes & went to a popular place which has been named (Gringo street) which means white epople hang out there...But it has lots of bars & restuarants & happy hours.
Nicaragua is famous for the good old rocking chair & well made hammocks.
Take care guys, will write again soon Jo.
