Hi Guys, well i made it to Ecuador which was an extra bonus! The weather here is warm & humid because itīs rainy season. My first stop was the capital Quito. Not such a huge city but nice with huge parks for skateboarding,BMX biking, playing sports & man made canals with pedalo boats. I arrived on Motherīs Day which is a National Holiday here so all the shops were closed but everyone was celebrating in the huge parks which are surrounded by lovely green mountains.
I visited the Ecuator Centre which claims to be the Centre of the World, it has a huge tower with the globe on top & you can stand on the Southern & Northern Hemesphere. They also put on lots of free shows & I saw a traditional wedding.
The people are really friendly & the food is good. I watched a wicked thunderstorm take place about 5pm one evening with huge streaks of lightening. I visited the new city & the old city which has lots of beautiful old churches with an Angel looking down on the city.
I also visited a huge city called Guayaquil, which is on the coast close to the Peru border. I walked up 444 stairs to Santa Ana Chapel where you can view the whole city.
There is a beautiful promenade which was built in 2000 along the river & some beautiful beaches. There is a park which is full of Iguanaīs roaming in the grass & sleeping in the trees. I was looking at them on the ground & suddenly heard this sound from the trees & there must have been at least 30 of them eating the leaves & basking in the sun, i moved very quickly as i didnīt want them falling on my head.
So bye for now... Jo.
