Out of the jungle into the highlands and the passion continues..
We did a little guided tour around the fields of green. By doing so we visited a strawberry farm, a butterfly farm, a tea factory and a rose garden. The strawberry farm was a little pricey but really good. Whereas the butterfly farm was more a graveyard of butterflies. I never felt more sorry for insects than there. A lot of them were simply too weak to fly and were just waiting to die. The Cameron Highlands are the place if you want to taste good tea. They pick the leaves by hand and start over every third day. What a job, there is just no end to it. We tried some different flavors and if you want a good hint, try the Passion Fruit Tea, it's simply the best.
Speaking of passion, it happened to be Valentines Day and Floh got ahead of himself. He disappeared during the day several times but none of us really recognized it. On Valentine's morning there was a knock on the door and the room service brought in a huge breakfast with fantastic biscuits with jam, warm omelets and six real red roses. We were stunned and I was really impressed. Especially because I got a special little letter from him asking me to be his valentine. It was a great day! One night we tried to visit a hot tub but unfortunately the engine was broken so we ended up playing Jucker and singing karaoke with the whole staff until way past midnight. I think I never sang so bad in my whole life...
Besides that I can cross out another thing on my list of things I've never done. We ate in a Indian restaurant, it's quite different. They serve your food on a real banana leaf and you won't get any tools to grab your food. So basically it's a great digging your fingers in rice and sauce and shuffle it somehow in your mouth. I never had so much fun by simply eating something, oh wait that's not quite right, I have to exclude the rabbit cake and the artificial Chinese rooster cake. But the food was definitely way better than the other experiences, so was the music. Good music is really rare here in Asia. More thumbnails ...
Where I stayed:
