We only stayed for a couple of hours in the capitol, then took a bus up to Siem Reap. Angie felt sick the whole bus ride and I got the same shit later on that night. It seems as if Daria is the most true 'friend' a traveler will have. In every new country your new friend will come and visit you again. So the first day was more or less a lazy day. After throwing up, we two felt much better and we took two Tuck Tucks to explore these famous ruins in the jungle of Cambodia. Tommy and Angie were behind us (Derek, Janice and me) until some winding roads and then the suddenly disappeared. We figured their Tuck-tuck must have been broken down. No wonder these street were partly street, partly sand and some parts were rough rocks were everybody had to get of the tuck tuck so that the tires won't be destroyed. Well since they were out of sight, we basically lost them and did the rest of the tour just with the three of us.
I think it was the second temple in which something began that in the end made me change my whole travel plan.
I had just walked up some stairs to be able to look down and see this amazing scenery from up above for the first time. Half way through, I turned around and saw two guys crawling up the stairs, quite exhausted. One was joking that it would be so much better if somebody would pull em up here. So I did. I picked 'em up and both of them seemed quite surprised that I did.
Sometimes I like being strong ;)
Anyway, we kinda walked together through the temples, took some elephant pictures and that was the beginning of getting to know Damon (Australia) and Danny (Canada).
Since we made the same Tuck-Tuck-Tour, we decided to stick together for that day. It was a beautiful day and we made some incredible pictures.
This night we met up again for a little jam session at our place. Angie was again feeling kinda sick and I guess we annoyed the rest of the group a little so we continued to play outside. Danny had his drum sticks with him, I got my guitar and Damon was making up rap lyrics on the spot. I'd say we rocked. We even had almost a complete song together, something with society and ahh nooo I'm starting to forget. Damn, it was so cool..
I don't know how long we've been sitting there, it was late that's for sure, but we all didn't want to leave. Later on two guys joined and all I remember from there was the smoke of wheat, me being dizzy and Danny whispering 'Malaysia' into my ear. I felt those butterflies for a few moments, I had forgotten how they felt like. It was a flow of excitement that went through my body. I was so ready to go into another direction. So we went for a walk and he was serious, I told him, I'd speak to my friends about it the next morning and I'll tell him tomorrow afternoon.
Actually there was no question, I knew the moment he said Malaysia, that I will go with him. I knew that my friends would understand it and that they were just waiting for me to do something like this. I didn't say yes right away, first to just sleep a night about it, secondly that it was really okay with the group and thirdly just to leave him for one night with a question mark.
The next day I felt horrible, I don't know whether it was wrong food again or the joint last night, but my stomach was upside down. Still I wanted to see this famous Angkor Wat, since that was the reason for coming to Cambodia at all. Well it was huge and impressive, but something was missing.. besides that the sun was way too hot, I felt like dying. Basically I was just waiting till the evening would come and I could tell him that I'll join and I really hoped that he was still serious about that. Apparently while traveling you meet a lot of cool people all the time and you have good chats and a nice exchange of experiences, but unfortunately most of the time you'll never meet up again.
But somehow this was mend to be different.
I took a map of the city and started my search for this restaurant were we wanted to meet again. I walked for about half an hour, it felt good feeling a cooler breathe during the later hours of the day. Nevertheless my stomach still didn't like me, so I refused to give him food.
While I was waited in front of the restaurant, Damon walked by, passing me straight into the restaurant. I called his name twice until he realized that I was standing outside. Well I could see Damon, but where was Danny?! He was late and I saw my whole plan already going down the drain. I thought if he's late, he doesn't care, but I guess I was wrong. The moment he showed up and sat down, I looked into his eyes and simply nodded my head. That was all it needed, he knew and he was definitely happy about it.
In the end it turned out to be a little stupid to wait so long, since he had already booked his flight and I just showed up the next morning on the airport, asking if there's still a free place for me on the plane. Until that point it was still not completely sure if I would make it to Malaysia or not. But since money rules the world, everything is possible, it's just a question of the price. I payed 180,-$ total and I was in.
Angie, Derek, Janice and Tommy continued their trip as it was planned.
They made their way to some Dolphins in the middle of Cambodia and all
the way up through Laos back to China.
Damon went on by himself, I felt kinda sorry for him, since he was trying pretty hard to get my attention too. Well, the winner takes it all...
