What a Christmasmorning ;o)
My mobilephone got a textmessage at 6.30 in the morning. I thought if it's that early it's got to be urgent. And it was, it was Angie asking me for the cinnamon I lend from her the day before, so that I won't forget to take it with me later on this evening.
She was making cinnamonrolls for all of us, to have a delicous christmasmorning. I love it when she bakes, it smells awesome and tastes even better. So I tried not to wake up my mum and went down. Alice was up too! These girls, don't they ever sleep?!
Since it was the morning of the unrapping action, I was hyper. So I stayed downstairs and we kept on talking and talking, really enjoying ourselves. After some time, the boys joined. We were all in our pyjamas or really comfortable clothes, it looked funny and felt totally at home. Since everybody was awake, I went up to wake up my mum. She was unsure weather she can come down or not, it took me some persuationskills. And for the first time she's been here, she was acting shy and was all worried about what she wears. I told her not to worry, american Christmas is different from german Christmas. When I told her that we are all in our pyjamas she could hardly believe me. But we were and it was cool. After a while she knew what I meant.
So after a while Angy brought in the most fantastic cinnamonrolls I've ever tasted. The getting up early payed off sooo well. And with all this sugar in our mouths we started to unwrapp a lot of presents, it was awesome. Finally I felt like having a real christmas, a christmas that is not fake and put up because it's supposed to be that way, no. Finally I experienced a christmas that really felt like home. A big familie - celebrating - pure and honest - where nothing would have been wrong in that very moment. I was waiting for something like this for a long time. I felt good. The presents were nice, but the athmosphere was worth so much more, even though I got an Ipod, thanks mum though! You knew I need music to function right, so that little baby really keeps me going, I'm so thankful!
But Christmas is not over yet, we still got two Christmasparties more to go. A good Santa party and a bad Santa party.
The bad Santa party was in a hotel with a lot of people, probably more than 30. Everybody was supposed to bring a weird gift, eighter something funny or something unwanted, or useless. And most important it had to be cheep. So we took some German chocolate and I bought some chopsticks, which is really senceless in China, but they looked cool. All the gifts are thrown in the middle and you pick numbers. Number one gets to go first, to pick a present. He unwraps it and then number two get's to go. Number two has two possibilities to choose from, eigther he gets a new wraped present or he steels the one from number one. Each present is just allowed to be stolen three times, after that it's stuck. I was totaly happy about with what I ended up with. I got a pumello and my mum got my chopsticks. The rest was pretty much all girlie stuff I wouldn't use anyway. Well there was a bar of Ritter Sport Knusperflakes though, Thomas brought it. Too bad it was gone so fast.
I like the way of dirty Santa, it's a faboulus idea for all these christmasparties you don't know what kind of present you should get. We should adopt this, besides it's a lot of fun too.
On the good Santa party we had to draw names so knew whom we will give a present, but did not know who is giving you that present. For me that was pretty special, because I got lucky and Brian picked my name. I knew because he was writing all sorts of german words he knew on the box. It was the biggest package too so I spent quite a while unwrapping that box, what he couldn't have known is that I love unwrapping things. When I finally got down to the present I was speachless again, he bought me speakers to be able to listen to Poddy(I gave my Ipod a name ;) without earphones. It's awesome, thanks again so much, also to Derek and Angy. I just think you're amazing!
The rest of my time I spent with my mum in the Lewis kittchen preparing a whole bunch of Kartoffelpuffer by hand. Man after that you know what you did, but it was fun. We filled everybody up with so much Kartoffelpuffer they could hardly move ;) So also the German culture will be spread, hehe.
So much for one of the best christmases I've ever had. Thank you.
