Chamonix - you'd think it was winter!

Menton was a lovely place, in fact the whole of the Cote d'Azur was lovely, but we thought it was time for a change so we left the blue sky behind are now sat in the middle of some of the highest mountains in Europe surrounded by snow wondering why we didn't stay on the Cote d'Azur! We are in Chamonix in the French Alps - the snow is pretty thick on the ground but obviously with it being a ski resort all the roads are clear and it's actually pouring down so it'll probably all be gone by morning. Surprisingly (!) there's hardly any other campervans on the campsite and can you believe we're the only British van on here?! (only ones stupid enough?). The site is right at the bottom of Mont Blanc, which looms above us through the cloud at almost 15,000ft between two huge glaciers. We are hoping to go up Mont Blanc tomorrow (don't be too impressed we'll be getting the cable car, not walking) although the cloud will have to lift a bit first otherwise they'll be little point. We were also hoping to take to the slopes but we're struggling to find anywhere that does tuition and equipment hire just for a couple of hours - probably just as well, as our friend Wayne pointed out one of us has a tendency to be a little clumsy - don't we Rob (good one Wayne!). (Me, clumsy, I'm not the one with 2 kids!!!-Rob).
