Going mental in Menton

Alfie talked us out of going to Italy because the word on the street was that dogs were only allowed in public places if they wore a muzzle - and he wasn't having any of that! So our next stop after Monaco was Menton just before the Italian border. We arrived right in the middle of their annual 'Fete du Citron' - or citrus festival. There was a huge park filled with displays such as the Taj Mahal, Buddhas, windmills and lots of other weird and wonderful things - all made out of oranges and lemons! And on the Sunday afternoon there was a big parade through the streets, which was a bit like Kendal Torchlight only all the floats have the oranges and lemons theme! We had great fun getting jostled about with all the locals, being covered in silly string and confetti! One side street in the centre of town had been reserved for campervans only and this was home for 2 nights - not bad until we realised at 3.00am on the first night that it was the favourite route for the local boy racers who thought it would be really funny to drive past at high speeds blasting their horns! We've stayed in some funny places during this trip!
P.S. Daisy reached 5,000 miles since leaving home as we arrived in Menton - as a celebratory treat we thanked her with a jet wash and hoover!
