Today is one of those drive until you drop days. We did see the Saint Louis Arch, the freeway we were on took us around the whole arch, so we got it from a lot of different angles! I wonder how the elevator inside it works!?! The only other big city we went through was Kansas City, which prompted Sigrid to find "Going to Kansas City" on one of her 60's cds. For all of you who caught this last years season of American Idol, we apparently went through Blue Springs (not entirely sure about that name, both signs were quickly obscured by trucks), the home town of David Cooke, who won this year. The rest of the day was spent doing our usual 'in the car stuff,' as we drove along. If you were wondering, this includes singing along to one of our various cd's (Billy Joel "The Stranger", "The Best of Simon and Garfunkel", "The Greatest Hits of the Bee Gees", Muppet Treasure Island sound track, Mamma Mia sound track, The Beatles "1", a random mix Madeline made for Sigrid's 16th B-day, The very best of the Sons of the Pioneers, Stevie Wonder "Songs in the Key of Life", The Best of the Big Bands, Carole King "A Natural Woman", ABBA Dabba Doo, Superchic[k], The Very Best of Cat Stevens, Beach Boys, and five cd's that are random collections of 60's music), working on our blog, making movies, listening to Mrs. Pollifax, gawking at the scenery, waving at passing cars and trucks... getting excited when said trucks and cars honk or wave, taking pictures, eating, and re-charging our various electronic devices. A lot of rest stops in Iowa have wi-fi, but it was reeaaallllllyyyyy slow, so we weren't able to post anymore pictures, as we were hoping to. We were determined to make it to I-90 in Sioux Falls, so we drove until about 11:00PM, which meant we needed to pull over at gas stations just to wash our windshield because, hands down, bugs are worst in the Dakotas, which makes night driving quite difficult! We also got our favorite wave so far, from a motorcyclist that we passed, who after reading our window, sped back up to wave us (he was pretty cute too). A nice end to the day were really nice fireworks being set off along the road at various firework stands, either as advertisement or the employees playing and testing, we guess.
