After finding the the restrooms at the rest stop where we had slept were locked at 5AM, we got back on the road in earnest and by 10:30AM we had made it to Glendive, just about 35 miles from North Dakota. We were making good time and were in need of a stretch and a short walk, so we checked out Makoshika State Park, which was really cool! The geology was amazing; we felt like we had suddenly fallen into southern Utah and their visitor's center was full of fossils that had been dug up there. Then, it was on to I-94 and North Dakota. The only stops in North Dakota were for gas, where we noticed that all the car washes started with a bug prep, which made since as the bug-splatter here was even worse than Montana. Besides some pretty hills and interesting rock formations, the only points of interest in North Dakota were all the "world's largest" along side the road. We saw the world's largest metal sculpture, Holstein cow, and buffalo. We reached Minnesota around 7:00, we had lost another hour to central time, and decided to drive on until it got dark enough for the glare of oncoming headlights on the bug-splatter made it unsafe to drive, which was around 9:30.
