Cuzco
The return trip to Cuzco was fairly uneventful, a fashion show aboard the train created a jolly mood and party atmosphere. The train attendants did their best to amuse the crowd, featuring locally made attire with a folkloristic twist.
By the time I arrived in Cuzco it was dark and raining heavily, it was cold and windy, and I decided then and there that I would not take that Saturday flight to La Paz, but the earlier one on Tuesday, provided I could get a reservation. A mild case of altitude sickness was starting again, although I had taken Sorojchi pills even during my visit to Machu Picchu. I had enough of cold weather and rain, I needed sunshine...
 Cuzco - Viva el Peru
The next day I visited LAB's office (Lloyd Aereo Boliviano) and bought a special excursion ticket to La Paz with additional stops in Cochabamba and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (some "world traveler" had recommended this "swinging" city "not too far from the Brazilian border") and the return trip to Lima, all for $ 295.00. And since my reservation was confirmed for the following day, I was a happy man again.
Ramiro wanted to make the last evening exciting and gave me a tour of the local entertainment places. It was Monday night (just after a long New Year's weekend), and it was raining again, heavily.
 Jesús alias El Muki
We checked Mama Africa as well as Mama America, looked into El Muki Disco, and eventually ended up at the Kamikase Bar, a very cozy place where Yawar Inti (from Lake Titicaca) were playing Andean folk music with a very contemporary twist. Also in attendance that night were members of the band Arco Iris, one of the oldest and most popular folk groups in Peru.
And thus ended my visit to Lima, Cuzco and Machu Picchu (I would return to Lima for a few days after my trip through Bolivia).
