Haungshan (yellow mountain) has some amazing scenery but the pleasure of hiking around (up to 1800m) is dampened by the crowds who block the way and appear in your photos. That's not all since the whole place has been supplied with steps as opposed to being left in it's natural state so it feels a little bit like being inside a shopping mall with no quick exit. Three days afterwards and 4000 steps are still killing our legs, so we're not planning any long walks soon. The place suffers from mass tourism with the masses, in a huge natural area it doesn't seem possible that so many people can visit all at once. We didn't really notice but there must be more men than women visiting since the ratio is on average 125:100 with the worst provinces having something like 165 men: 100 women which really must cause an imbalance.

A quick trip from here and we are visiting some more Huizhou style villages Chengkan and Qiankou. Qiankou surprised us since nobody lives there anymore unlike everywhere else, it's split into two parts Ming and Qing but there is little to tell between them other than the more recent dynasty buildings being larger. Apparently we negotiated a really good price with the taxi several people could hardly believe it. However we're hardly ripping him off since he gets a commission on each place we visit.
