Blue Mountain Hiking or as the locals call it bush-walking is plentiful up here at about 1000m above sea level. Not much wildlife other than birds and leeches which get in your socks and suck your blood, Dom will show you her wounds.
The birds are really colourful with red, yellow and other coloured plumes but rather too fast for any decent photos at least without a telescopic lens. We've managed to do 4 good hikes without really seeing the "blue" colour - perhaps it's due to the number of heavy storms we've had every night which clears the air. The blue is supposed to come from dust and oil from the eucalypt trees which then reflects the sunlight. The famous walk is the 3 sisters, none of which are very recognisable or attractive so they can stay as rocks, the hikes take in a lot of cliffs, streams and even witches "leaps". It takes some imagination to see why the rocks are given such distinctive names, one was called Edinburgh Castle rock and we certainly saw no resemblance. However Mega(sexy-cool)long Creek is long and Devil's hole is 400m uphill, especially difficult now that the track is closed. The Grand Canyon also gets a mention because we walked through it and didn't have to set foot in the USA. One evening we went out for drinks in the Iso Cafe they had some pretty good music on but the next evening we discovered that they were only serving if you eat so perhaps we looked too grubby after all that trekking.
Ku-ring-gai(guy) National Park More trekking around on closed trails (the ferry man told us we'd be doing some bush wacking), nice palm beach (there's loads of them across australia) and fun on the ferry crossing.
Windsor First time in a B&B run by a couple from New Zealand (they seem to love it here though), it was incredibly good value with breakfast thrown in and we cooked steak which is damn cheap in Oz. The evening was quite fun, the guy asked us to help translate a pretty old song "Non Monsieur" which is about a lady saying no to a dance - he was very disappointed having suspected that it was a bit more raunchy. After that we spent the rest of the evening listening to his jazz collection which was quite extensive since he used to be in broadcasting. The town is probably worth a quick visit having some of the oldest buildings in Australia, it became the "food bowl" of Sydney since that was the only town established at the time and here was the only place the pioneers could easily grow crops.

I am not even gonna go there. This is definately a part of aust that i would enjoy. I see the grand canyon resemblance (just subtract all the greenery for the states version). Winning leach photo. So how do they get into your socks? Are you treading through water for this to happen? Well, they keep the infections at bay no? Sorry i have been missing from your log. I went home for 2 weeks.
