So, it is now my last night on Gili Trawangen... And it been emotional...

Never have I felt so alone... It's a strange thing going out night after night on your own, surrounded by people having a great time, trying to strike up conversation but getting nothing back. Thankfully my hotel has great wi-fi and sky TV, my nights of CSI and rubbish movies slowly ticked by. I even managed to invite myself, inadvertently, out to a pub in Islington in my desperation of company! And then I discovered the wonders of the night market where I could feed myself for less than a pound AND meet people! The dark cloud suddenly lifted as I met a few other British teachers and joined them for a night out... And I'm meeting them again this evening! Some are even going to be in Ubud when I am there so I may even bump into them again then.

My diving here has finished and I'm so looking forward to a lie in tomorrow. My intention was to dive here but for it to be more chilled out, having organised my schedule around this idea at the start of the week i then discovered they had kindly re-jiggled my schedule to a morning dive every day... It's been worth it though. I've seen loads of turtles, white tip reef sharks, octopus and many more... Also, whilst I've been here I have been called every name under the sun. I had to chuckle to myself when on my first day I turned up with my equipment set up and the name STAN on it, when I tried to explain the T was in fact an I, I then became SEAN... I then gave up!

Tomorrow I take the boat back to Bali, for 2 nights in Padang Bai, apparently a sleepy fishing village and then onto Ubud for my final week. I'm looking forward to soaking up some culture and doing land based activities... I want to learn how to cook Nasi Goreng, a delicious staple Indonesian dish and see some Balinese dancing.

Anyway, till next time... I hope the yoff of the UK have settled and everyone is safe and well,

Sian xxxx

Ahhh bless you. So brave for going on your own and riding through the more difficult times. Glad you met people, hope you see them again in ubud. Still wish I was there despite the 'norman' moments. Can't believe you only have a week left. Sounds like you're making the most of it. I expect a Belinda size serving of beautiful authentic nasi (interesting sp alternative my iphone just gave me!) goreng immediately on your return!

Lots of love xxxxx

Hello dearest Sian. I am loving the blog. I think you are really brave for doing this and I love reading about all the wonderful creatures you see. I did google mola mola, nice! I am envious of all the gorgeous food you are eating too - enjoy it. I hope you keep bumping into fab and friendly people. When I stayed in Bali I found the waiters to be really friendly too. That doesn't sound right but you know what I mean. Jez and I used to have some really great laughs with them. Enjoy and take care.

Stan! Glad you've found some company - sorry we had to leave you. :(
I can safely say I would much rather still be in Bali! Also pleased you enjoyed your diving and saw lots of turtles - am very jealous, although can't imagine they were as cute as the ones from Kuta? I hope you managed to get some photos for me to pass off as my own! Enjoy Padang Bai - keep a look out for the submarine! Claire x
