Strasbourg

Another lovely place with plenty of pretty quintessential French streets, many of which were adorned with massive marketfare for the duration of our visit.
In complement to the pictureseque architecture and waterways, we visited more modern establishments such as the EU parliament building, and discovered the insanely cheap French eatery, Flunch - later to be renounced by Browny in Dijon.
Beyond the EU buildings we settled in a large park for a while, enjoying the sunshine. There was also a little zoo - altogether very relaxing and pleasant. The Strasbourg cathedral tried its best to rival the Dom!
I've also just been reminded of an amusing incident involving Tom and too much Desperados, the local beer, in which he forgot what room he was in coming back from the bar and ended up hammering on all the doors on our floor demanding to be let in at about 3 in the morning =D
The first forray into France then... Strasbourg scores... 8/10. Pretty pretty place, and especially lively due to the markets. Disappointing amount of ice cream cafes though, following Cologne. Best things: Being able to see a great range of things, and then lounge away in the park, admiring them all. Worst things: The start of the French hostelling experience - bit of a dive. Return Visit? I wouldn't say no if you're offering...
