Cologne

Definately my favourite place thus far - this may have been due to the abundance of ice cream cafes scattered around... they were unbelivable, literally, anything you could ever want in a ice cream, and most things you'd never want. Ice cream shaped as spaghetti, massive toblerone ice cream sundaes... I'm in love. The old town was pretty and quaint and we sauntered through it, frequenting a couple of jazz bars on our way to the square where we assimilated ourselves into local culture at one of the Irish bars. Whilst not scoffing ice cream, we climbed the Dom - barely.

For city views:

And recovered walking down the Rhine and savouring the jovial atmosphere.
Cologne scores... A whopping 9.5/10. I absolutely loved it in ways that I never thought possible of Germany. Best things: The ice cream, walking through the streets of the old town at night and feeling like you're at home, walking by the river in the day, soaking up the sun, and looking up at the Dom at night, wrapped in stars. Worst things: Unisex rooms at the hostel meant I roomed with some free stripping Spaniards! Return Visit? Hell yeah, I plan on it.
And on that high note... Experiences in Germany: 8.5/10. Extremely driven by my love for Cologne, my belief that Hamburg had more to offer than what we saw, and the fact that the country completely exceeded my expectations. Glad we went: Completely. Initially I was like, ugh, Germany, and not keen, but now I love it! Favourite bit: Cologne by night. Next time: The whole rest of the country, with a considerable stop over in Cologne ;)
