Had a massive lie in by mistake although it was really rather good, and missed brekkie. Oopsie.
So we dropped our bags in storage and headed to the Grand Palace - we walked all the way round it before we found the entrance and once inside we had to hire clothing to cover our arms and legs - luckily I had strategically planned for this wearing my stylish pyjama bottoms and Luce borrowed a long skirt, and ended up looking like a gypsy... we were a right pair.
Anyway, there was loaaaaaaads of shiny buildings that were really pretty and completely amazing to look at all together. There was also a model of Angkor Wat in Cambodia aswell, which was cool. And we saw the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
It was really weird - there were loads of Buddhist monks walking around taking photos and speaking on their mobiles... don't know, just thought that would be a bit too modern for them! Obviously not. There was also a group of Buddhist monks we observed on some sort of package tour - wandering around with guide, which raised a chuckle or two! "Chaps. What goes on tour, stays on tour."
After wearing all those ridiculous clothes we were boiling and headed back to Khao San Road for food and mmm pineapple shake, did a bit of shopping for cheapcore clothes to take trekking and now here I am in an internet cafe that actually works. Getting the sleeper train at 7.30 pm to Chiang Mai where we've got a day of exploring and then a 3 day trek after that, going up into the mountains - more elephant riding and bamboo rafting. Should be amazzzzzzzzo and apparently its cooler up that so I'm looking forward to that. Exciting!
