Back to Accra we go...

I packed up all my stuff, said my farewells to the cooks and our house in Ho and we returned to Accra for the weekend via similarly amazing transport. Most of the groups were there, all staying in the Mad House. Friday afternoon we hit downtown Accra, which was vaguely westernised. The markets in Accra were a great experience, a myriad of objects, colours, and unknown items. I felt kinda cheeky bartering with all the sellers, but apparently it was the thing to do, and I emerged with two pieces of artwork. Other people got drums, loud fabric pieces, jewellery, Ghanaian flags and football shirts.

Night was another visit to Champs for tea and kareoke and random banter with i-to-i peeps and a random Ghanaian nightclub (??) The last day we went to this completely surreal 5 star hotel complex and lay by the pool. Literally, it could have been anywhere in the world, yet right outside the front door was typical Africa.

Off to Champs again for tea, and then to the airport for my flight home... it was really sad to say goodbye to everyone, especially as I knew they'd be going to more great places, and watching the kids in all their games, and then some of them were off to Timbuktu. This was when I realised the scary bit wasn't going to Africa on your own, it was going home on your own, and spending the flight wishing that you weren't. So I slept, as much as I could, curled up on my seat. Back in Milan it was like the worst kind of deja-vu...
