I love the way the cloud seemed to cut every scene in two, descending on us and rising again as we twisted through the mountains, dodging the rain!
So Mostar was an enroute stop off on the way to Dubrovnik and the Croatian coast. It too had a cute little old town, of which the main site was of course the infamous bridge, rebuilt after being bombed away. And the old town was so pretty, but the side roads of Mostar revealed large amounts of damage still remaining - some buildings were miraculously still standing after an enslaught of bullets and bombs... this was the place it really hit home, yet it was still beautiful, all of the countryside still shines through, look...
The rain then hurried us out of town, I'm afraid to say. On the way out we attempted to indulge Dad's passion for planes at the local airport, but my god, if anything ever flew there, you wouldn't know about it, it looked like it had been closed for years or something... creepy.
...If the photos haven't convinced you, let me say now, Bosnia = criminally, criminally underrated. I'm not sure the parents loved its quirky kinda "backwardness", but I completely and totally did, I like going back in time to places... and I felt like it had character, ya know, if a little dark, but still strong.
Plus I got that awesome illegible passport stamp on the way in, and didn't get one on the way out so I'm officially still there, w00t \o/
