I arrived in Cairo at 2:00, and when Wael didn't appear at airport to pick me up, I managed a taxi to Mo’ house in Moqattum. Today was a good day of rest. I met up with another CS, Ahmed and his brother Mohammed (the two most common Egyptian names if you haven’t noticed) and they showed me a new side of Cairo called Rehab. It is actually a very modern, clean suburb with a large food court filled with American named restaurants but it is past the airport and in the middle of nowhere. I trusted Ahmed; he is one of those calm, kind souls who believe people are good. We had some nice philosophical conversations which came naturally after evaluating the interaction between the siblings. I don’t recall exactly but I think Ahmed is around 5 or 6 years older than Moawney (that’s his nickname) and from what I understand had to take on the father figure when their father passed and Moawney was only 18 or so. Moawney has only just completed a year in the military which he started straight from medical school and has the natural chip on his shoulder. It doesn’t help that he is also very picky and must have things his way. Although I was entertained briefly, I was fully aware of the similarity in me and how unattractive it can be.
