Last night I organised a prayer gathering (khatam-e-Quran) to bless my new home. The Imam from the nearby mosque came to lead the prayers as well as other people at the mosque who heard about the prayers - which I thought was very nice of them. My colleagues, landlord and family, and newly made friends came to participate. Even some of my new neighbours showed up when they heard. SG came with the kid and they too participated in the prayers.
Unfortunately, my UN and USAID friends could not make it because they were on 'lock down'. There was an incident on Jalalabad Road yesterday and they were on high security alert.
The food was catered by Anaar, a local Indian restaurant; and, fortunately, the selection went down very well.
The men and women were segregated, so I arranged Afghan style seating with newly bought Afghan carpets and cushions on the terrace for the ladies and kids to enjoy.
The evening ended with the remaining people playing Jenga and UNO with SG's kids on the terrace.
May Allah bless my new home with safety and lots of happy moments. May my family and friends come and visit and share in the joys of my new life. AMEEN
