I finally got my personal belongings that I shipped from Dubai released from Kabul Customs after 19 days of procedures and the involvement of three ministries. Our admin person from the office was struggling with it all. I finally had to pay $200 to a logistics company to have my stuff cleared. I can understand the bureacracy involved, I suppose it's to curb corruption, but I suppose those who wish can very easily find loop holes in the system...
There was no order to anything in the warehouse. Basic signs of "this way up', 'handle with care', fragile, 'GLASS' are ignored. Some of the marks on my furniture show evidence of poor handling. Despite all that, I'm glad I brought nealy 1400 kgs of cargo. The cost of shipment from Dubai is far lower than having to buy brand new and obviously less stressful.
