The initial plan was to visit the Gemäldegalerie, which is supposed to house one of the finest collections of 13th-to-18th century art in the world, including around 20 Rembrandts. That's where we would have gone, if we'd had Euros. Lacking cash, we headed for a Deutsche Bank in nearby Potsdamer Platz, got caught without umbrellas in a torrential downpour, scurried along the edges of postmodern buildings, took refuge in a shopping mall, finally decided we no longer had enough time to go to the art gallery, and headed back toward the hotel. These photos were taken in our last moments of dryness in Tilla Durieu Park.
