McCracken's work is characterised by a highly distilled formal
vocabulary, refined over many years of development. Colour and surface
are utilised to create perceptual shifts between materiality and
immateriality, providing his minimalist sculptures with a metaphysical
presence. This aspect is extended in a different direction in his
detailed mandala paintings.
