Okay, we got up at the crack of 8:00 am for coffee and cereal. Broke camp and YES, we stopped at the office and paid our fee. The woman there new the manager password (or she put it in her pocket). Either way, we felt better having paid our way.

We decided that since this was the longest travel day of our vacation, we'd head for the Interstate (blue roads for Suzie), which we did. Leesville to Alexandria, South on I-48 to Lafayette, East on I-10 to Baton Rouge, East on I-12 North of New Orleans to I-10 East of the city and on to Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. We arrived at the Hollywood Casino RV Park and checked in at about 6:30 pm after driving about 8 1/2 hours battling the wind. In some areas 60 mph was our max, but most of it was 65 mph with cruise control. "Winnie" handled like a champ and "Ranger" trailed great.

Once we arrived, we noticed that the generator had stopped running SOMEWHERE enroute. Now we know that we have a 40 gallon fuel tank. We know that the gas gauge doesn't work. We know that the generator is suppose to shut itself off when the tank is at only 25%. And, we know that all that knowledge doesn't do a lick of good if you don't know when the generator stops running; and we know we didn't know when or where that was. Soooooo, we were nervous all the way back to the gas station; a whole quarter mile maybe from the RV park. Made it, filled up at $2.48/gallon, only took 38 gallons. Long story short (oops, too late) -- "Winnie" fails math.

Drove on to WalMart where we picked up pork chops, broccoli, and ice cream. Headed back to the park, hooked up the hook ups, and started cooking dinner at about 7:15 pm.

Ate, took showers, watched a little bit of TV, and called it a night EARLY.

More tomorrow.

Kerrie on

You probably had to cruise right past Lafayette, which is a shame. It's really one of my favorite places. That's where I chartered a boat to take me out on the bayou (that's river for you Arkansans) so I could do some photography. Saw lots of gators. Luv them gators. I'd love to plan a trip there for spring time; I'll bet it would be beautiful then.
