On the way to Vegas in a Mustang Convertible...

We left San Diego early after picking up our hire car from near the airport. We paid a little bit extra and hired a Mustang Convertible. Well, it is America after all. We drove most of the day to get to Hoover Dam around 4pm. The dam crosses the state line between Nevada and Arizona, and it's a pretty impressive dam.
After the Hoover Dam we drove to Las Vegas and dropped the hire car off. Then caught a taxi to our hotel, the Luxor. It was really cheap during the week. It cost us $60 per night and we got lots of discounts including free day pass to the spa, as well as being upgraded to the newer Tower rooms, instead of staying in the pyramid.
So we freshened up and then went to Hard Rock Cafe for some food. As it was Independence Day we were hoping to see some fireworks along the Strip, but because the airport is so near, they can't set fireworks off there. After the meal we visited a few casinos - Luxor and Excalibur and joined the One club, which apparently gives us points when we play in Luxor, Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. More thumbnails ...
