We carried on from Wanaka, through Mt Aspiring National Park and Haast Pass, and onwards to Haast. This is the main route from Queenstown to get to the West Coast. On the way the road wound up around the mountains and we saw a lot of scenery including Fantail Falls and Thunder Creek Falls, as well as following the Haast River.

Haast is made up of three communities, Haast Junction, Haast Beach and Haast Township. We didn't stop here long enough to look around, just to get some petrol and then we were on our way towards Fox Glacier, where we booked our glacier trip for the next day and then camped for the night.
