Barossa Valley Wine Tour

Booked a day trip to Barossa Valley with the company Groovy Grape. Had an early start of 8am on a tour with another 15 people and a daft tour guide called Matt. First stop once we were out of the city centre was at the toy factory and the Big Rocking Horse, that doesn't actually rock!
After that it was to our first winery, which just happened to be Jacobs Creek. Marvellous! We tasted about 10 wines and then it was on to the next place - Richmond Grove. Unfortunately, all their wines are only available in Australia, which was a shame as they did a nice Riesling. Lunch was also at Richmond Grove. Matt cooked a very tasty BBQ, with sausages, steaks and lamb chops. He also cooked some kangaroo marinated in herbs and spices, which I have to say was delicious! (Sorry Skippy!)
After lunch was a visit to 2 more wineries - Cockatoo Ridge and then Bethany. Bethany was a strange one because instead of being a structured tasting, you had to select your wine from a list to taste. After the last winery we stopped in a town to do a bit of shopping and buy some alcohol because the bus had a liquor licence, which meant that the journey home was a bit more raucous than the morning jouney! The drinking session continued at a pub near the hostel for about 4 more hours, until we stumbled back to the hostel and passed out! More thumbnails ...
