It's the end of our visa process. On Tuesday we picked up our passports, which now have shiny new blue stickers in them. One is a Resident's Permit, valid indefinitely, which means we can stay in NZ as long as we like. However, once we leave, the permit expires. Luckily, we also have a Returning Resident's Visa, valid for 2 years. This means anytime we leave NZ, when we come back, we can get a new Resident's Permit.
When the Returning Resident's Visa runs out, we will have to apply for a new one, and eventually, after 5 years I think, we can apply for citizenship, although that is a long time down the line.
In other news, we have been taking full advantage of the NZ International Arts Festival that has been in Wellington since mid Feb, and ends next week
Continuing our cultural education, on Wednesday we went to see another play, Who wants to be 100. This was written by Roger Hall, the same person who did the Who Needs Sleep Anyway play that we went to see a few months ago. It wasn't as funny as that one, and there was definitely some references to Kiwi things that we didn't get, but still an enjoyable play.
Our last outing to the theatre was tonight
Not much else has happened this week, apart from Graham watched a bus get stuck going round a tight corner. We are off to Napier again next weekend for Easter. We have Jack Johnson tickets, he's playing in one of the vineyards on Easter Saturday. We're also hoping to go to some of the NZ v Eng cricket. We were hoping to get to the cricket tomorrow as well but we'll see how we go, as Graham has an exam on Thursday and I'm studying as well.

Shiny new passport stickers
. There are events taking place daily at various venues around the city. Last Saturday we went to the TSB Arena to see Black Watch which is a play about soldiers from the famous Scottish regiment serving in the Iraq war. I must admit I wasn't keen on going to see this, but I thought it was one of the best performances I have seen. Totally different from anything I'd seen before, but definitely food for thought. Admittedly some of the Scottish accents I couldn't understand, but if you get a chance to see this, I would definitely go to see it. A word of warning, pretty much every sentence has a swear word in it, so don't go if you're easily offended by bad language. We went on the last night, and at the end, the cast received a standing ovation. They also performed the haka afterwards. Not sure if they did this every night, but it was a nice way to end the play.Continuing our cultural education, on Wednesday we went to see another play, Who wants to be 100. . We went to see Traces which is a circus show. Another great pick by Graham - again something a little bit different, including acrobatics, dance and music. We also went out for a meal beforehand at The Flying Burrito Brothers to celebrate our residency. Not much else has happened this week, apart from Graham watched a bus get stuck going round a tight corner.
