The last few weeks have just flown by, and it looks like summer has really arrived, especially in the past week. It has been mid to late 20s every day. A couple of weeks ago, our friends Jill and Paul, who helped us out when we first arrived, went back to the UK to start a new chapter in their lives.

Just before they left New Zealand, Jill came to stay with us, and as it was a clear night, we went up to the top of Mount Victoria to see the views of Wellington. Afterwards, we drove the scenic route around the bays, back to the flat. On clear days you can see the mountains of the South Island and this was one of those days! Awesome sunset views.

We were lucky to have a public holiday on 21st Jan, so soon after Christmas. Unfortunately Graham was on call so we couldn't go away for a long weekend. However, on the Monday, we did manage to get out to the Rimutaka Forest Park, where we did one of the walks there. Afterwards, we headed to the shops to pick up a Nintendo Wii. For those who don't know what this is, it's basically a games console but a bit more interactive than the usual ones.

As well as enjoying public holidays, we also received our police certificates from the UK, which means we were able to finally put our application in for residency, on Wednesday.

I've also had good news about my job. Originally my contract was until June this year. To cut a long story short, I was given the opportunity before Christmas to apply for the job I was doing, but as a permanent role. On Thursday, I had an interview for the job, and there was also another internal candidate that was interviewed. I was quite nervous, but it turned out that the interview was fairly relaxed and I think I did fairly well. Only time will tell!
