Sunday morning, we had croissants and apple juice as breakfast, at one of the picnic tables in the park in the centre of town. What a way to wake up! We then made our way back to Christchurch where we had the rest of the day in the city, as our flight back to Wellington wasn't until Monday morning.
In Christchurch we went to the Gondola, which is actually a little way out of town. Not as interesting as Queenstown Gondola but we went and had a look anyway. Afterwards we went to another mini golf place called Caddyshack. We'd actually gone to another Caddyshack in Queenstown on our last visit in 2005. Not sure whether it's moved locations or if there's two locations now.
We also had a walk in the city centre and along the river Avon. They do punting on the river, but we ran out of time this visit! In the evening we ate at an Indian restaurant, Two Fat Indians. We were recommended this place by Tony, a guy I work with who used to live in Christchurch. It's hard to find decent curry places in New Zealand but we have to agree with Tony that Two Fat Indians is a brilliant curry house and we'll definitely be back there again.
We had an early night as our flight in the morning was at 6.45am. We were staying in a hotel right next to the airport, and handily right next to the car rental place to drop off the car. We stayed at Sudima Airport Hotel, which was ok but I wouldn't recommend it as it wasn't air-conditioned, and that day had been 27 deg. It was also supposed to be soundproof but Graham woke up when the aeroplanes started up. I must have been tired as I slept right through.
The flight on Monday was on time and managed to get to work on time, but it was hard work as by the afternoon we were both really tired, but such a lovely weekend it was worth it!
