We moved from the hostel into our new flat in the south of Wellington on 22nd September. As you can imagine it was a hectic weekend, having furniture delivered and having to go and buy bits and pieces, as well as supermarket shopping. I was glad to get to work on the Monday to have a rest.

I had my first full week at work, and have now adjusted to getting up early, and have figured out the bus routes to work. I've just bought a bus pass as well for October. The passes run for each calendar month, so for the last week in September I bought a 10 trip ticket. You can get these for 1, 2 or 3 zones, depending on which zones you are travelling in. The monthly bus pass is called a Gold Pass and is valid for zones 1-3. There is another bus pass which covers the Hutt Valley area, north of Wellington.

Graham is still waiting to hear about the Telecom job Plane coming into land

. He gave his reference details to the agency dealing with the role, and then on Wednesday he was told that the agency had passed his references onto the recruiting manager at Telecom. Unfortunately, the consultant at the agency was off Thursday and Friday so we are still waiting to hear. According to another consultant at the agency, it's taking a bit longer as it has to be approved by head office as well. Hopefully early next week Graham will have some good news.

My job is going well so far. I'm working as a Planning & Reporting Accountant at Transpower, initially on a 9 month contract until the end of June, but with a possibility of it becoming a permanent position. The people I work with are a mixture of Brits and Kiwis, as well as 1 South African. The boss decided that on Thursday we would play indoor football, the Kiwis against the Rest of the World. It was actually really good fun, considering the last time I played a team sport was at university. However, the next day, the majority of us (including me) were suffering from aches and pains. It was good though because the Rest of the World won, so now we might be playing a touch rugby game in the near future, as indoor football is a British game, so we have to play a New Zealand game next time.

There are a few sports teams at work, some play in the evening and some at lunchtime Almost Landed

. I have enquired about indoor football, netball and badminton, so I'll let you know how I go. They have a touch rugby team as well, starting up soon, so I will see how my departmental game goes and then decide. A bit more sociable than going to the gym.

This weekend was our first proper weekend in the flat. Friday I was aching so much that I assumed a horizontal position on the sofa and didn't move until bedtime. Saturday began early, as we got up to watch the England v Tonga world cup rugby match. We then decided to have a drive round the south of Wellington , around the bays, from Lyall Bay, by the airport, along to Breaker Bay, Worser Bay and Scorching Bay before coming back round to Evans Bay and the other end of the airport. We also drove around Miramar, home to Peter Jackson and Miramar Studios. We didn't find either but maybe we'll be able to find out some information about the studio location and go back to visit.

On Sunday we went to our first football game - Wellington Phoenix v Perth Glory. The weather wasn't particularly brilliant but the atmosphere was great. The Phoenix won 4-1 and by the time the 3rd goal went in, there were lots of blokes with their tops off, waving them around their heads. I think there must be a lot of Brits supporting the Phoenix!
