On Wednesday we decided to catch the train to Porirua to look at some furniture shops, as we need to buy a bed and a sofa for our new apartment. The train takes around 25mins and then there is a short walk from the station to the Mega Centre. This is a big industrial estate with loads of furniture and household goods shops. There are also some smaller shops there. Also in Porirua there is an indoor mall about 2 mins from the train station, which has a good variety of shops as well.

We had plans to catch a bus from Porirua to Lower Hutt to go and see Harry Potter at 1.30pm as this was the only cinema still showing it. Unfortunately I didn't find out in advance about public transport, and also didn't realise that Porirua was on a different train line from Lower Hutt, with a big mountain range inbetween them, so the only way to get there was to go back down to Wellington and then catch the train or bus to Lower Hutt Celebration Drinks for getting a job!

. Well we hadn't left enough time for this, so we gave up on seeing Harry Potter. Nevermind, I expect the DVD will be out for Christmas!

Whilst we were shopping, I finally got some good news that the job with Transpower had come through, and I start next Wednesday (19th September). Graham also got a call about another job he'd applied for, and he has an interview on Friday morning.

In the evening we went out for a meal to celebrate. We went to Lonestar, the same chain of restaurants that we had visited in Palmy with Jill & Paul. We got there quite late, around 8.15pm and it was really busy. We had to wait around 20 mins for a table, but it was ok because we just went to the bar. However, when we ordered our food, they forgot to bring out our garlic bread starter, so by the time we got our main meal we were absolutely starving as it was around 9.20pm at this point. On the plus side, we were so full by the end of our main course that it was a good thing we hadn't had any starters.

When you pay the bill you have to go up to the desk at the entrance, and we were talking to the girl there. We must have impressed her as she gave us both a free Lonestar t-shirt!
