Ever since we came back from a year spent travelling in 2005, we've been thinking about moving permanently to New Zealand. Having finally decided on a departure month of August, we applied for Working Holiday Visas in February. Once these came through, we had the green light to book our flights.

Thanks to the BA catering row we were caught up in on the way home in Aug 2005, those very nice people at BA gave us 50,000 points. We could have made it over to New Zealand in one go with this, but there was no availability left for August, and to be honest, we wanted to split the trip up.

So for a grand sum of £140 (which is tax), we are flying from UK to Sydney, via a 2 day stopover in Singapore. After a few days in Sydney visiting friends and family we will be heading off to Auckland for another £80. Quite a cheap journey we think!

Hotel in Singapore is booked, accommodation in Sydney is being provided by Beckie & Phil. All that remains is for us to make a rough plan of what we'll do when we get to Auckland, sort out accommodation and transport, and decide in what form we'll take our money.

Exciting times!
