the way back to the high way, while aviv was sleeping and yoed playing with the GPS, I had time for myself to think, we passed all those small villages that looked like a perfect picture, so beautiful, so organic and harmounus....how they do such a vernacular architecture that look so good, in Israel we also have vernacular architecture but it looks ugly...closed balconies, outside plumbing...
The way was worth it as the lake was beautiful, its water were turquoise and clear above were black huge mountains that clouds are threatening on them...we walked all the way around, aviv enjoyed herself hanging on yoed and we had a chance to move our feet.
On the way back we took lunch in a restaurant where an Italian speaking Korean women was our waiter... We understand that people immigrate, but why come to such a remote place as tuenno? Yoed had deer meat and I ate a regular pasta. As it were getting late we got back on the road heading further north! We initially planned to stop in Bolzano, but as it was getting late, this visit will have to wait till the next time we are in this part of the world....
As we continued north, the scenery dramatically changed to be filled with huge mountains and houses that looked like they were taken from the sound of music. Wait, are we still in Italy??
Finally, we arrived at our next destination - Suisse allo schilar. This is a small place with a BIG cable car taking you up into the sky to see the alp de Suisse mountain tops. The way on the cable car takes 15 minutes and the views are breathtaking! We couldn't stop looking and taking photos as we got higher and higher... Aviv even got to eat in the cable car ride
After one last short drive through austrian cottages, miles of greens and impressive mountains, we reached our destination for the night - the picturesque city ortisei. This small place is a tourist gem, a weird combination of Italy and Austria. Everything is written in German, Italian and english. We ate dinner and had a great pizza and an amazing apple strudel for dessert (see the Facebook photo!) unfortunately for us we didn't have enough time to wander its small streets and boutique shops, as tomorrow we are having a most exciting day - driving on the grand dolomite way. Since the weather forecast predicted also heavy rain in the are, this will be even more of an adventure! Wish me luck not to fall off a cliff!
