The drive today was long. All my passengers were real troopers. Once we had cleared Salt Lake City we ended up driving by the Great Salt Lake on our way to West Wendover which is on the Utah/Nevada border. The drive was quite interesting and quite flat. It was going to be on of those days where you set the cruise control on and just go in a straight line. Once we reached West Wendover we stopped at the visitors info center and made some lunch and connected to the internet. Got some information on Nevada and pushed off for the town of Elko. On our way to Elko we passed through the town of Wells. Although we did not see any damage, I was told once we were in Elko by one of the locals that Wells was badly damaged due to the earthquake that hit it in early May.
We should of had some inkling how bad this RV park was going to be with a name like Double Dice. Imagine after driving for as long as we had that you are greeted by a large gravel parking lot with a bunch of posts that provide power and water(see picture). We were so tired that it did not matter. I went to the bar and had a cold Bud and thats when I found out about Wells. We did very little at this place but we decided that we would get up early and go right through to Reno as the thought of spending another night in some isolated spot in the middle of Nevada held very little appeal.
