Another beautiful day as we pull out from Moab. It has been a wonderful two days and what we have seen has truly been remarkable. Get the rig all hooked up take the dogs for a run get some gas and down the valley we go. Again the scenery along the way is breathtaking. This state has some of the most beautiful countryside we have ever seen. We wind our way down highway 191 to Monticello stopping at a roadside to photograph Wilson Arch which is right beside the road somewhat in the middle of nowhere. We continue going through Blanding, Bluff and towards the Navajo Indian Reservation. We finally come upon the settlement of Oljato on the Navajo Reservation which is also home to Goulding's RV Park Monument Valley. The wind has picked up considerably as we exit off Hwy. 191 and we have to drive through a orange coloured dust storm for a very brief period. I am not impressed as I do not wish Abby to get any sort of blemish. With think we will be located on some parking lot behind the gas station as we press on. Imagine to our very pleasant surprise we have to continue past the gas station and up this narrow canyon and to a lovely RV park with all amenities Abby and Wilson Arch Monument Valley

We get settled in and shortly thereafter we do some exploring of the area. There is a local restaurant just down the road which serves something called a Navajo Taco. We have been told that we must have these for dinner. We explore the Gift shop and find that the Navajo artwork (jewelery, baskets, blankets) very expensive and do not find anything we really liked. I went to the restaurant and ordered two of these Navajo Taco's to go. Imagine my surprise when I pick them up and they weigh about 5lbs. Back to Abby and our dinner which was so very good.
Earlier in the afternoon we met a couple from England and we had them over for a drink that evening. They were  from London and had quit their jobs, sold their home and were traveling through the US for 3 months then into Mexico and finally into South America. They expect to be away for another 18 months. We had a nice evening exchanging different experiences with our travels. They had been to some of the same places we had and it was interesting to hear someone else's viewpoint. We made it an early evening as we have a fairly long day tomorrow on our drive into the Grand Canyon.
One thing about this RV Park is that it is located inside this canyon and you have a variety of areas to explore and walk which was good for the dogs. The last place we stayed in had only a very small pet area. Also our location in the RV park made for a most picturesque setting. I do have some pictures from this place which I will post once I get caught up on the journal. Will write again after the Grand Canyon.
