Drive today is from La Grande to Boise Idaho. Weather was really nice with the end of the day at 80. The drive itself was very pretty and a road that neither Pat nor I had ever been on. The traffic was quite light for most of the day until we got close to Boise.
Along he way we stopped at Farewell Bend State Park to give the dogs some exercise. It was great and there was a run for the dogs that allowed them to be off leash. We both decided that it was really important that we find the right roadside hamburger stand as we both had a great desire for a original American hamburger. We lucked out and found one attached to a Shell gas station about 30 miles outside of Boise and it was great. Had to wait 12 minutes for them to be cooked as they are made from scratch. They were sooooo good.
Rest of drive uneventful with the exception that I took the wrong exit, did not believe my navigator, and ended up have to make a turn around in a mall parking lot(remember we are close to 55' in length) to get on the right road to the RV park located down by the Boise River. We are going to spend a couple of days here as we want to see the Birds of Prey Center and relax.
The RV Park is quite large and is next to a horse racing track. There was a great place for the dogs to walk along the river. Our neighbours (3 groups) had a total of 21 Bichon's with them. Apparently there is a local dog show that all of them are entered into.
On Tuesday we had a leisurely morning and pushed off to see the Birds of Prey Center. Very interesting and it was the first time that either of us had see a California Condor. Very good documentary on these birds which I hope will benefit us when we are in the Grand Canyon. We also explored the area a bit.
The weather is unreal. When we arrived the temp was in the low 80's. Today the high was 51 and tonight they say it will get down to 31!! The weatherman also predicts some snow on Thursday. Thank goodness we will be gone!!
The trip so far has been great. We are all doing well and are looking forward to the rest of our adventure. Tomorrow (Wednesday) we leave Boise on our way to Salt Lake City. Hope to make our way to Burley, Idaho for Wednesday night then into Sal Lake on Thursday.

hi patsy and mark
glad to hear you're having a good time and an intersting journey. It was a bit of journey getting to this part in the blog where i could write you back (this is my first ever blog entry! Can other ppl i dont know read this?? i hope not. Let me know next time you write.) Had to 'join' before i could respond--i considered being from another country for some reason--who knew there was a 'British Ocean Territory'??--personally, i prefer to think of oceans as holding out from imperial ownership.
Anyway, back to my response... sounds like an enjoyable trip so far--i can picture you in each of these places ('burley' idaho conjures up all sorts of interesting possibilities!), mark running around upon arrival to scrub out the engine while simultaneously sussing out the perfect parking angle while patsy's arm juts out to the side awaiting her arrival cocktail. Guess you havent gone to the funky restaurant in the middle of nowhere yet or we'd have heard about it--want to hear all about the meal! i'm excited for you that you're now in new territory discovering new things (though please dont come home having converted to mormonism whilst in Salt Lake City--i'm looking forward to our drink together upon your return--- sorry if anyone who might be reading this is mormon--SLC is very pretty, though.) Anyway, must sign off now to go file my taxes at the eleventh hour. Will write again later, now that i'm a member and all.(Actually, it's more like 'now that i know how to get to the full blog'!--the other day i was only reading the partial tidbits as i thought that was all there was. Looking forward to the next chapter--enjoy your day! xxoo love ginabellfromcanada
ps hi l&g,erin,d&d,and m&d if you're reading.
Starbucks RV Style
OK, so are you telling me you drove the RV through a Starbucks drive-thru?? If so you are truly the BEST driver in the universe. I can barely find the coordination required to walk to Starbucks in the morning and get my coffee...
Love, xo, Erin
