4 day trip down south, with me driving one of the cars. the first bit of rad had loads of works, adn we had to go only 60KPH on the freeway. then finally we could go 110. Arrived at the huge house we were staying at in dunsborough, unpacked, and headed to canal rocks -was amazing to see the strength of waves on teh rocks. Shame about the weather - grey, rain, and windy. we were all dressed up in raincoats, was fun exploring and climbing the rocks. The house has 4 bedrooms, a large lounge/dining room with a wood fire. I chopped some wood using the east as technique, and later we played Uno.

Over the next 3 days, phoned the busselton jetty daily to be told at first the weather was too bad, then the sea was too cloudy to see anything. We headed south towards pemberton to see the gloucester tree, but due to the weather it was closed to climbing, but was a very impressive tree from the ground anyway. On the way we stopped at a place called the mythic maze. there were 3 mazes which involved finding theseus, a princess, 6 knights, some clues to find the holy grail - on the counter, darts, draughts, chess, snakes and ladders and all in all was great fun. We also headed from Pemberton through Margaret River back on Caves Road, and passed so many wineries. then we headed to the lighthouse, adn did a bit of a walk/run in the rain and so a sunset. We passed a kangaroo that hopped onto the road adn then off the road luckily. (they are a big road hazard).

On Saturday we headed for a walk around the lighthouse at cape naturaliste, and got a couple of shower spurts of rain, didn't see any whales at whale point, but did see loads of wild flowers. Then a tour of the lighthouse opened in 1903. The lens hasn't been changed since the french lens technology of using loads of prisms to reflect light adn refract lights has not been beaten yet. the prism crystal is now valued at 15 million dollars, adn the range of the beam is 26 miles.

Also headed to nGilgi cave in Yallingup- one of the bigger caves - there are quite a few in the area. The Cave was divided into 3. first segment was a tunnel, then down 600 steps with loads of stalagtites, stalagmites, adn helictites --> which grow in a helical fashion due to surface tension. the caves were lit in changing styles, with arab tent style structures as the mineral scrystallised in wavy lines with gravity. Teh story of the creation of the cave was written adn very interesting - 2 gods/spirits, with the good spirit Ngilgi chasing away teh evil sprit wolgine after winning a fight.

The visit to Teh Evans & Tate Winery was interesting, it was quite small, tried out a few wines. Luckily somebody saw a sign for the winery, as we had no maps. Margaret River hs 940 hectares of vineyards. saw a cool vacuum based wine stopper, that sucked outhe air adn kept wine tasting nice. Also was some cool plastic attachments that allowed easy puring of wine. the cost of gnangara wine there was 2 dollars more than in a supermarket!

After cleaning the house, adn a quick cycle ride to the beach we left the holiday home, and headed to the busselton jetty. Surprise, surprise the observatory was shut! we walked the 1.8km of the jetty to the end in 20 mins. The observatory was on the sea floor adn only 8 metres below the surface, so I don't thinkg we missed much. had spinach and ricotta parcels, and chips, and headed home for dominos.
