Okay !! So we left Bermuda 6 weeks ago and since then we haven't got around to updating our blog to let anyone know what we have been up to ( bar those people that have seen us of course), so here goes...  Lets see if we can make this interesting enough so that some of you might come back to continue to read this when we are travelling !

Well we got back to rainy wet Manchester a bit later than planned as our flight was delayed out of Bermuda...something up with the tail trim indicator light in the cockpit.  Not that we were overly concerned in our nice business class seats with the champers flowing - I was reminded several times "don't think you can get used to this - after this flight we'll be in cattle for the foreseeable".  So we made the most of it...good old BA !

We spent the next couple of weeks catching up with family and friends via a christening, long weekend in London for a hen do and various nights in the local pubs.

We also managed to fit in a concert - Groove Armada at the Manchester Academy.  It was great to feel back in the real world and see some live music.  It was also a bonus to go a couple of streets from the hotel we were staying in and find a brand spanking new casino !  Yay - not exactly Vegas but good fun.

Our intentions of getting to the gym and getting fit for the hike along the Inca Trail didn't quite go as planned (no surprise there!!).  Although we did go to a few gyms and get the tour and the forms, however most places want you to sign up for a year which obviously wouldn't work, so we didn't bother...

In mid-November we headed up to the Lake District for Alison & Richard's wedding. They had a wonderful day - the hotel and grounds were superb and everything went off as planned.  The rain even stopped just as they were ready to step outside for their photographs by Lake Windermere.

They headed off to Hong Kong the day afterwards and we stayed up there for a few days to buy some gear for our trip and break in the walking boots we had bought.

It didn't take long to realise that having sat at a desk for the last few years and not visited a gym since we left our UK jobs back in 2001, that we needed to do a bit of work in that area. We did a couple of good walks and managed to test the waterproofs we had bought.

After our trip to the Lake District it was back to living out of suitcases  - a week at each set of parents seems to be the happy medium at the moment.  We went to try and join the David Lloyd gym in Warrington as they said they would do us a 5 day pass to use their pool, gym and indoor tennis courts on a short term basis - but by the time we decided we had 5 days to spare they had withdrawn that scheme as we were in the run up to Christmas.  Ah well....

We headed over to Alex's parents on the Wirral and found that there was a tennis centre not too far away so we have played some tennis and badminton there and started the training.

Since then we've been gathering the bits that we need for our trip - the list seems never ending but I'm sure we'll get there eventually.

It still doesn't feel like we are actually going on our trip yet - even though our respective parents now have rooms full of rucksacks, boots, fleeces and other bits we are trying to cram into our bags....I can't believe it's less than 3 weeks away now....

Right, well I am sure that I've bored you all enough now so it's so long until next time - it's Alex's turn to do the next one !
