We arrive home in a cloud of dust.

a. Stormy return

After a hearty breakfast that included Eccles cakes, which we really loved, we were off to the airport. As luck would have it, Penny and Ruth were able to drop us off at the airport on their way to a day of site seeing.

We can't thank Penny enough for her excellent Canadian hospitality. We would never have thought to see half of the sights that she showed us.

Once at the airport, our impending return to the US really started to weigh heavy on our hearts. Arrival at the airport and our flight back to Arizona was really uneventful and we guess that is a good thing. Shelling out the few extra bucks to fly direct on British Airways was definitely worth the money. The food, service, and entertainment made a long flight a piece of cake.

b. Back in AZ

Our landing was very smooth and customs was no problem. As we made our way through the terminal we noticed that the sky was really dark and the wind was rattling the windows. It turns out one of Phoenix's famous dust storms hit minutes after we landed, had we been any later we would have needed to circle until it passed (I think we used up the last bit of our good travel luck...just in time). The taxi ride home was really interesting as visibility was severely hampered it was really wild.

We were happy to find the house key was still duct taped in Shilo's backpack, once we dug it out we stumbled in to the house, travel weary and dust covered.

The remainder of the evening was a blur and we slept soundly. Unfortunately, we woke up at 3am (it will definitely take some time to get back on AZ time).

We planned to get some breakfast with Aaron at Leo's. You know the whole circular journey, end where you begin sort of thing. We were all crushed to find that Leo's had closed down virtually over night (Aaron was really shocked as this was one of his favorite places).

I guess change is inevitable. This trip had changed our world view in many ways, and like us; the world had changed a little bit too.
