Today was our travel day to Kyoto aboard a Japanese fast train. I spent the morning in Hakone and visited their flower center which was located in a dilapidated building on overgrown grounds. They did have some nice flowers inside and I have included a couple of pictures. We arrived in Kyoto in the late after noon and checked into our hotel, one of Kyoto;s grand hotels. Our room is small but has a lovely Asian flair. I especially love the kimonos, slippers and tea set the hotels provide. Kyoto Station is a tourist attraction in itself. Part train station, part shopping mall, part entertainment arcade, the place is huge! Matt and I have decided the reason Japanese food (apart from sushi) has not made it to the US is because it is awful!! Most Japanese don't eat in authentic Japanese restaurants-they crowd the ethnic ones. We have given up on the local food-the portions are so small and so expensive you really need to gowith something safe in case you don't like it.
Our days are beginning to fall into a routine. Leslie is back at work and school and doesn't require as much of Matt's attention. I go out in the morning while he sleeps or studies and we usually do something together in the afternoon and have dinner. I go to bed early (for me) while Matt spends his late nights on the computer. Matt has decided to return to the US right after we arrive in Stockholm to prepare for and take the LSAT in the US. He claims he is returning in mid October. I have my doubts but we shall see. I will be in the Scandinvian countries, Ireland, Great Britan, Germany,
Austria, and Switzerland during that time. Do I have any takers to join me?
