Wanting a bit of a break from Turkey, I headed to the Greek island of Kos. It ended up being nothing what I wanted, but a good trip nonetheless. It was even more expensive than Turkey. Welcome back to the land of the Euro! Agh. The beaches were lined with hotels and restaurants that seem to have ownership of the beach. I walked around the non-touristy side and found a 'free' beach where I chilled, and walked around for the day. I don't know what I really expected, I guess I wanted a nice quiet little fishing town. But I really should have known better.. it was a European resort beach that I didn't really care for. Tons of beach, tons of overpriced restaurants and tons of people.
I can't say I've really seen Greece, but from what I did see of it, it's not really my scene. Maybe if I had a ton of money and was on vacation to do absolutely nothing but lie on the sand, I'd love it.
