162 miles

Pete noticed that my front tire was getting very worn (and my back tire
was already getting close to retirement) so I spent the morning calling around looking for tires. I found them in Hendersonville, just 26 miles South on I-26.

Rain + traffic = slow going. We didn't get to Hendersonville until 11:30AM but luckily Dal-Kawa (the local Kawasaki dealer) is open until 1:00PM on Saturdays. Pete and I enjoyed jumbo hot dogs while the tires were mounted. The service guy was even able to recommend some nice roads, so by 1:30PM we were riding on twisty curves again [Note: yes, I went very slow and waited for the "new tire coating" to wear off before riding at normal speeds].

We hit Waynesville in the late afternoon and finally decided that rather than press on, we'd stop for the night and visit Maggie Valley in the morning.
