My Bags are packed and this time I am indeed ready to go!

Well I bet it is hard for some of you to believe it but after over two years in the Philippines and a wonderful last two months of traveling I am actually homeward bound.

To attempt to sum up my last two years in a short entry is nearly impossible. For those of you that have followed my blog closely you will have a good "snap-shot" of what I have been doing. From working on ENCA Farm in the Philippines, being welcomed with open arms to the Cosalan Family, wonderful vacations with fellow PCVs, rock climbing in Lao, touring the ancient Temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and most recently connecting a bit with the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in Nepal, it has indeed been an incredible ride.

As I was packing my bags earlier this morning I was going through some old pictures I have on an external drive and stumbled across the picture my Mom took of me when I left the Seattle Airport on March 22nd, 2006 and flew to my staging event for Peace Corps. It is funny to look at that photo now and in so many ways it feels like yesterday, but it has indeed been over two years since this journey began. While deep down I am still the " Same Old Sherry" there is a huge part of me that truly has changed from these experiences and will forever paint the way I interact and see the world.

In honor of my Grandma Nancy, last night I decided to live it up a bit, as she would have, and treat myself to a drink and dessert at the Banyan Tree Resort Hotel in downtown Bangkok. The views from the 59th floor outdoor restaurant and bar were amazing and while alcohol was not being served (Governors Election yesterday), so I could not have a Scotch in Nancy's honor (her favorite drink) I did enjoy a wonderful dessert as I looked over the sea of lights of downtown Bangkok.

As one adventure ends another adventure begins and I am excited beyond words to see you all soon and re-connect in person.

Thank you for joining me on this journey and I hope my blogs and pictures have brought even a glimpse of this side of the world to life for you.

All my love and see you soon!

Sherry
