This weekend Sean, Nicole, and I went to Nicole's family's bach (Kiwi word for cabin, basically) in Mangawhai. I got to meet some of their family friends and it was a pretty great weekend overall. There were 14 of us in total staying at this house and we spent most of the time in the water. When we arrived on Friday morning, we got settled in the bach and then went out to the lake nearby. The water was a bit chilly, but I got to use a wet suit so it wasn't so bad. We went swimming for a while and some of the group went skiing; I was too cold (and a bit scared) to try that day. When we weren't in the water, we were at the bach playing cards and just hanging out. I learned a few new games that I'm sure I'll be playing more of in Auckland.
Easter Sunday was fairly uneventful. We went out on the boat again, but I passed on the chance to ski again. We had lunch (fish caught that morning by Sean, Nicole, and Nicole's dad) and then went back home and had a quiet Easter night filled with lots of chocolate!
I had Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off of school, so I tried to fit a lot into this weekend. Monday I got to go to my first hot pool in Parakai. They are geothermal outdoor pools that are nice and heated. It was a lot of fun and there were even a couple of water slides to go on. Today, I am busy catching up with family on Skype and working on homework. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!
