After Monday on the sheep farm,Tuesday we then met up with Trevor and Bernadette Campbell for a round of golf.We met them 5 years ago the the golf club, and have kept in contact over the years. They were the first couple we met and played golf with at the Mount. We spent Friday in Tauranga which is just a few of minutes away. A little shopping and lunch occupied the day. Saturday we drove down to Te Puke and stopped at Kiwi 360 which is a kiwi fruit farm that does tours and has nice gift shop and restaurant. We did the tour last time we were here. We then returned to the Mount and walked around downtown for a while.
Local NZ lamb was on the menu last night and Cathy cooked up another one of her awesome meals. Wine included, which we seem to go through quite regularly since our arrival. Wine we buy at home for $30 goes for around $10 here! Easy to see why wine has made it on the supper table almost every night.
Every morning we managed to dodge the rain and got in our round of golf. Sunday mornings at the course are usually quiet and today was no exception as we whipped around in about 3 hours. We played with a local member Neil who is also a school teacher. We were able to compare our school systems. He teaches at an all boys high school of 1600 students. Lots of similarities and lots of differences.
The Christmas rush is on here as most of the local shops and the big mall were really busy Saturday. There are lots of pre-Christmas sales, it will be interesting to see what the sales are like after Christmas.
We have some more golf booked this week and hopefully we can get back to the beach. We can’t complain about the rain as we only had about 4 days of rain over our first 6 weeks.
We are heading back to Hamilton on Christmas Day for dinner at the Woodcock Farm.
We are really looking forward to that!
Hopefully everybody is ready for Christmas at home and has a nice relaxing break. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and that Santa finds you all!
