Hi all.
We have finally left Koh Chang and Lonely Beach...... can't believe we got stuck there for as long as we did. We made the decision the day after my birthday drinks, after seeing someone's photos of the beach at Koh Makk. Birthday went well, had a nice meal, then heading off for a couple of drinks. Bumped into some people we had met over the duration of our stay on Lonely Beach, and ended up having another 'bucket' fuelled night in the Sunset Bar - a definate favourite for a party night. Left there around three and headed for a dip in the sea which was great - floating on our backs and watching the stars. Realised in the morning we had (yet again) lost our flip flops, in fact four out of five of us had returned without flip flops, people keep stealing them from outside the bars.
We have been on the significantly smaller Island of Koh Makk for two nights and we are planning on staying here for an additional two nights (again a plan of only coming for a set time has been lost). Koh Makk is just a twenty minute white knuckle ride from Koh Chang by speed boat. The sea was pretty choppy, but nevertheless we left the bay at breakneck speed. We tore along until the 'driver' slowed due to the windscreen coming lose and needed one of his 'team' to secure it, by holding on whilst being battered by waves, spray etc. After a quick stop off to drop off some other passengers at another Island, and a quick jimmying with the windscreen, we tore off. A few minutes later we made it to Koh Makk to everyones relief, bags intact and passengers alittle wet.
Yesturday we spent the day swimming in the sea, reading and relaxing in our hammock which is on our balcony over looking the beach. We are staying in some little bamboo huts on Monkey Island. The huts are nice and clean, and perfectly situated right on the beach front. The beach is really quiet and you can easily find a part with no one else on. Last night we walked along the stretch of the beach on the south west side of the Island. The sunset was spectacular, the colours were incredible, the sun going down on one side and the moon up on the other, beautiful. We have taken lots of pictures, but haven't been able to upload them to the blog yet, will do when we can.
It is the full moon today (saturday) and so another full moon party is upon us. We are going to a party in the jungle here tonight. Starts in the bar near to our huts, then a bus takes you out into the jungle and then (I think) takes you back as and when you need to, but if not it comes back around 3am. Think the music should be good, the bar man here is playing and so far his music has been really good, so should be fun. Don't know if there are going to be many people though as it is pretty quiet here, all the huts around us are taken, but you don't see many people about. So this afternoon its going to be swimming and hammock again I think.
Hope all is well at home, can't believe it was snowing last weekend in London!!!! The weeks are passing really quickly now, we have been here for 4 weeks tomorrow... looking forward to seeing Pete, Ali, Steve and Helene at Christmas! Serendipity is going to be great.
Take care, will up date soon.
Lots of love
