Hello all
Well we finally made it out of the rain and to the beautiful Island of Koh Chang. We left Ko Phangnan on the 8th, were the rain was still lashing down, and after a relatively short night of sleep, after going to one of Koh Phangnan's 'original' pool parties (bizarre, full on and a really great night with excellent music for a change). Got on the ferry to Koh Samui and grabbed a taxi to the airport thinking we were home free, only to arrive at the airport to massive queues of people and all planes delayed.... arrrggghh! Some of the delays were around 6 and 8 hours. We were a little worried as we had a connecting flight from Bangkok to Trat, but luckily we only had a delay of two hours with our connecting flight also delayed by an hour. The service at the airport made it worth while though, free food and soft drinks in the 'lounge' while you waited. BA have a lot to learn!
So we made it to Trat a little late but on the same day luckily, we grabbed the last ferry to Koh Chang and were able to do all the travel in one day, which was a relief. We headed to 'lonely beach' and were reassured our taxi driver would know of somewhere for us to stay. He didn't, so dropped us at the first resort. We ended up staying in these gorgeous little wooden bunglaows on stilts on the hill side over looking the bay. It was a bit of a trek (under someone else's porch etc), but well worth it. When we woke up in the morning and opened the doors onto the porch the view was amazing and the sun was shining!!!!! Hoooray!!!!!!
We headed to find somewhere else to stay for the next evening.... lots of cool places right on the beach front, but most were taken. Found a lovely and very clean (which I am soooo happy about), apartment a few minutes from the beach with a nice bar near by that has a great verander looking out to sea, it's perfect. The guide book had recommened this beach and we were sold on the line 'drop your watch in the sea, you won't need to know the time in this chilled and relaxed place'. It definately lives up to the expectations. It is so chilled here, the beach can get busy compared to other places we have been but its still not packed. The sun is shining, and the pace of things here is great. It's also cheaper here than the Islands in the South, and so much better. We have spent the last two days on the beach, one of which was recovering from Thai Rum and the 'black moon' party..... there is a party somewhere every night.. any excuse I think.
We have been meaning to update our blog etc but our pace of life, movement, decision making has ground to a halt. We spent about 8 hours in one bar swinging in the hammock yesterday, ordering food and reading... but couldn't drag our lazy ass's to the internet cafe round the corner (actually it's outside the front of the bar). But that's what it's all about!!!
So today has been a lazy one, on the beach, swimming in the sea, which is really clear here. I think Peep's is going to go diving in the next couple of days, I may go snorkelling or maybe just sit in the hammock with my book eating...... who knows. (Love the book Ali, thanks for the recommendation).
We must say a big thanks to Giles and his great present of the two little maglite's, they have saved us so many times (especially on the path to and from the pool party, which consisted of climbing over rocks and trying not to get garrotted by stray ropes attached to boats). So thanks Giles!!!!!!!!
Well, hopefully we will make another entry soon. Think we may stay here or on one of the smaller neighbouring islands for a couple more days, before we head to Bangkok for a bit of action! Then up to Chiang Mai for a week or so for the end of our trip in Thailand.
Hope your all well, speak soon

Hi Guys - Delighted that the sun is now shining and we can begin to feel jealous of you two. By the way when are you going to stand still! I thought that the idea was to chill out! It looks like you are getting the hang of negotiations in your travel and accomodation arrangements. Are you recording your travels photographically?
Hi Mum here,we now have Autumn upon us, the colours are glorious, had 3 walks in 8 days, Friday's was spectacular, had lunch overlooking Rievaulx Abbey in brilliant sunshine.
Went to Manchester yesterday, Grandpa now has his 11th life, best I've seen him this year, rained all day as usual for Manchester. Picked up your blogg there for Margaret to see, she can follow you now as well.
Things seem to be good for you now, nice to get the sunshine. You seem to be doing so much in so short a time, like our first trip to NZ.
Hopefully our next trip here will be more leisurely!!
Up to Tim and Alison's next weekend, then off to Manchester for 3 days to Daddy sit!!.
Great to hear from you now that Skype is not my daily treat.
Love Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
